I came across this little girl while reading through my various fashion sites/blogs I frequently visit. Her name is Thylane Blondeau and she's a French child model that has become a recent "sensation" after appearing in the ad above for an issue of French Vogue with a theme on age. I'm posting about her because as someone who used to direct a children's division at a talent/modeling agency -- I'm disturbed, but also not shocked at this new "phenomenon". It's VERY clear that she's a gorgeous child and had her parents submitted photos to me while I was a talent or casting agent, there would have been no doubt I would have booked her.

However, I DO NOT agree with the overly sexualized photos that are being posted of her online for all the world to see. As you'll see, some of the photos are just fine and show a normal pretty little girl looking like a kid. And then you'll see some that are completely just wrong -- they're suggestive in the way she's been styled, in the way she's posing and her "come hither" stare which NO CHILD should be doing! I don't think I need to say why this is wrong!
Someone's dedicated a Tumblr blog to this new 10 year old supermodel and quoted this in response to the outpour of disdain for the overly-sexualized photos of her (and try to ignore the many spelling errors):
"It’s all a matter of culture. If she’s raized that way and mostly of european ppl have, how could they see a problem in it? Just because America have a more uptight culture, it doesn’t mean the other ones are wrong and “too sexualized”.
Okay...so while it's no secret that European culture vs American culture is less prudish when it comes to lifestyles and nudity, I agree with writer Ashley Cardiff who wrote about this girl on The Gloss. Check out the article for yourself to see some of these photos of Thylane -- in which I will I warn you that the last photo of her in the slide show is this child essentially topless! In the photos I've chosen to post here in my blog, you can easily see how she's styled to look like an adult.
