Clever things to do with maps

I love maps -- especially vintage pull-down maps. They're hard to find and if you do find them, the condition is usually not so great. Here are some awesomely clever ideas on how you can present them in your home.

My favorite is the first idea (pictured left), which was featured in this month's issue of Fresh Home magazine. How great would it be to find some vintage pull down maps and have them fit perfectly over your office or bedroom windows for use as blinds?

I'm also a fan of nice stationery stores that carry Cavallini products -- a stationery company based out of San Francisco that reprints a lot of vintage images, such as old maps of Paris, Italy or Tokyo's subway. I've purchased their calenders over the years and have my eye on their Flora & Fauna one this year. They also make awesome vintage reprints of old educational posters, which I mentioned a few posts back.
