Paper Cuts not Gun Shots

One thing I miss doing, which I used to do a lot more of in my teenage days, was being really crafty with my hands. Whether it was me deconstructing a vintage dress from the thrift store and re-sewing it to fit me or painting/sculpting with my art teacher who lived next door. Staying crafty with my hands in this medium as opposed to crafting witty remarks on my blog has been lacking.

Which is why I love things like Martin Postler's Paper Weapon Arsenal Models and Piperoid's Paper Pipe Robots. It's not quite like creating your own art sculpture per se´, but you are responsible for putting it together correctly and feeling proud that you did!

Postler is London-based and originally created these for the "Paper Wars" exhibit as part of his Death Machine series. You can now purchase and put them together yourself! I discovered Piperoid's robots when I was perusing a Japanese stationery store in San Francisco - they're so cute, collectible and clever. I'm the type of Aunt that would purchase things like this for my nephews, as opposed to violent video games that they're so fond of. Does that make me boring or cool? If only we fought wars with paper + glue-made guns and little paper pipe robots...lol.
