How Sweet It Is

I think it's been about 5 years now since I've had this much free time in the Summer and let me tell you -- it is indeed sweet. Taking this time to work for myself comes with its own challenges, but its also got very worthwhile rewards. One of the nice things about having week days off here in the Twin Cities that is noticeably different from other major cities across the country, is that the pace is MUCH slower. Meaning, when I pull up to a grocery store during the day, it is significantly empty, whereas when I would do the same thing in Los Angeles, there was no difference and it would be equally annoying.

(Loring Park, Minneapolis, MN)

Here in the Midwest, the majority of people have regular 9-5 jobs, so when you decide to take a day off, you aren't going to run into a million other people. You're not going to go to a coffee shop and not have a place to sit because screenwriters or wanna-be models or actors are in your way. Another great feature of this area, is the easy breezy ability to PARK everywhere. That is something I completely took for granted growing up here! Even better, if you can't find a place to park on the street and pull into a ramp -- the price is considerably cheaper here in comparison to SF/LA/NYC!

As most of you know, Minnesota is the Land of 10,000 Lakes, and within city limits there are some really beautiful lakes to laze about on. The city really comes alive here while the weather is nice - there's an enormous amount of appreciation and happiness that emanates from people during the warm months. It's nice to be around and creates a really great energy that is good for the soul. Anyhow, I'm really enjoying my time off and look forward to some upcoming travel!
