Shortly after I returned from my family reunion, it was off to Duluth again and this time we were able to have our Director of Programming, the talented Jim Brunzell III join us for the first time. We left on Easter, which by the way...I had no idea it was Easter this year until a friend asked me if I was celebrating it? No offense, but I'm not really that religious (spiritual yes) and celebrating a Christian holiday isn't marked on my calendar. Besides, what do hard-boiled pastel dyed eggs and marshmallow bunnies have to do with Christ anyway? Hmm.
In any case, I hadn't been to Duluth in over a month due to me being hired as MN Film Arts' Event Producer...which I regret to report that I officially resigned from the position. I won't get into specifics, but what I will say is that it was a decision based entirely on personal and professional creative differences. I wish nothing but the best of luck to that organization.
I'm happy to be back focusing on Sound Unseen Int'l Duluth once again, as there is so much work that needs to be done this month! We have a new office in a historic brewery building called Fitger's that sits right on Lake Superior that offers a gorgeous view and local bars and eateries just a hopscotch away (literally!).
We showed Jim the different venues that we'll be screening our films at, most notably our Opening Night venue which is an old church that was built in 1894 called Sacred Heart and the new, uber hip venue called Zinema that offers beer & wine.
(Sacred Heart Music Academy)
(Zinema Theater upstairs & Zeitgeist Lounge)
(downstairs lounge of Zinema)
We are all very excited for the festival this Summer and I will keep you updated on any new or exciting announcements!
