My little sister Linda and her husband Lonnie recently purchased their first home in a suburb of Kansas City, MO so it was fitting we all congregate there. My sister's and I are only 2 years apart, so growing up together made us an instant clan of girly girls who enjoyed singing, dancing and being silly a bit too much. We haven't all been together as a family in perhaps two years, so we were all really looking forward to it. Linda has a son named Dyhlann (10) and Orathay has two sons named Devynn (12) and Deinn (4). The three D's! Not only are my nephews awesome kids, they are just as silly as we are and are down to make fools of themselves for our sheer amusement.
It was a week filled with non-stop tomfoolery, amazing traditional Lao/Thai home-cooked meals by Chef Mom and the weather was gorgeous the entire time we were there. Some of my favorite moments were flying kites outside, blowing bubbles with Deinn, playing Jenga and Uno, creating a film that we starred in on the Wii, listening to Devynn karaoke a Beyoncé song, getting lost with my parents on our way to an Asian grocery store and going out with my sisters to the mall to loudly try on hats.
Although I wanted to make a short horror film with my nephews, I didn't get enough time or footage to complete it. So, here's what I made instead:
