A 70's dream room.
While up north at the lake cabin, the nearest sizable town was Perham, MN where we went for groceries and general lurking around (my favorite pastime!). We ate lunch one afternoon on their Main St. and found our way into a few thrift and antique stores. Never would I have imagined we'd come upon one that housed a gold mine of 50s, 60s and 70s era household items! Not only did we find some amazing loot, it was all priced very low and it happened to also be an additional 20% off that day! WTF?!

The speakers that got away...why didn't I buy them?! Oh why?!

An old Philips vintage television -- so cool!
Dylan wasn't quite understanding my exasperation towards my increasing excitement every time my eyes would shift from one vintage item to the other. For all you thrifty antiquing like-minded souls out there, you have to know that stumbling onto a place like this is pure solid gold! When I'd visit shops like this in Los Angeles or San Francisco, there was NO WAY I'd even be able to afford any of it because the owner marked them up so high. So imagine my surprise and uncontrollable urge to want to purchase everything I saw. Thankfully (and regretfully), I only purchased 2 lamps (an Arco lamp rip-off and a gold saucer shaped desk lamp), a 70s painting of a red-headed girl, 2 mod style candle holders and a gold brass owl candle holder.

The apartment I live in now has a theme of the color orange and is super 70's -- so when I saw all the orange 70's stuff they had I almost freaked out. I wish I could have purchased the white pod speakers (which after the 20% discount came to a mere $240) and the orange/yellow wave picture/print...but I forced myself to a budget of $50 (which I exceeded by $18). Trust me, I am feeling incredibly remorseful that I didn't scoop those speakers up...I can't find anything even remotely resembling them online and am quite curious as to how much they are worth.
Thus concludes my vintage obsession confession...(curse you money! I wish you grew on trees!).

It's the 70's calling and they want their orange phone back.

The painting I purchased for a cool five dollars.

You can never have enough owls...well, not at my place anyway.

How cool are these mod acrylic candle holders?!
