Fall Colors in Minnesota

Stillwater, MN - October 2010
Last night was the first night where I needed an extra blanket on my bed -- except I was so cold that I didn't want to take the 10 seconds it would have taken to get up and grab said extra blanket from my living room. I know...I know, this is completely embarrassing to admit, but it's true! I also realize that soon, the time will come where I will need to dust off the portable heater and start up the radiators (which are such a horrible way to heat a very old house). The change of seasons here are pretty cool though - I forgot how much I love seeing the leaves change color and the air feeling so crisp and clean (minus my seasonal allergies).

This weekend was pretty mellow, except for yesterday when I offered to help Dylan cook dinner for his family and a few of our friends. In total, it ended up being dinner for 12 and that required an entire day of purchasing, prepping, cooking and hanging out for 8+ hours. By the time it was over, my eyes were burning, my feet were throbbing and I was asleep within 20 minutes of crawling into bed. The dinner was really nice though - our friend Chris said he felt like it was Thanksgiving as so many people were there. We went to the Farmer's Market that morning and picked up some beautiful Fall flowers, along with harvest vegetables that we roasted alongside our roast of chicken and leg of lamb.

Today I had a fun work task of putting together a playlist for The Southern Theater to play in the lobby before and after our screenings we're doing this week for our festival. I can hardly believe the festival here in Minneapolis is once again upon us! It was a beautiful Fall day, so Rachel and I decided to head to Stillwater, MN to spend the afternoon and take in some Fall colors. We visited the new stationery store Mari-Mi (see my post below) and ate lunch on the St. Croix -- which was incredibly flooded! Getting outside to enjoy the moderately warm weather while we can is a major to-do here in Minnesota.

Anyhow, I thought I'd get in another quick post before the madness begins this Thursday as Sound Unseen opens at The Southern theater. It's going to be fun!

Autumn leaves.

Someone lost their balloons.
I see you Mr. Grasshopper.

I think it looks pretty magical flooded.

I love owls - so I naturally had to snap a photo of this painting at the Art Festival.

They were happening to have a Fall Art + Jazz Festival today.

Delicious Bloody Mary luncheon.

Bon jour-
