This past Sunday, Uptown restaurant Barbette held the annual Bastille Day block party with food, drinks and live music from some of the city's best artists. I hadn't been to that part of town in a long time and noticed how much it has changed. In fact, I was shocked at how alarmingly more gentrified its become - which is a shock since it was already gentrified when I lived there almost 10 years ago. Times are a changin' I suppose. The minute they tore down the historic Uptown Bar was when I officially lost hope for the Lake & Hennepin Uptown hood. The neighborhood I really like in Mpls. right now is the Northeast Arts District, it's still pretty blue collar and up-and-coming. It's being developed more tastefully than Uptown is and they at least are attempting to keep the integrity of the neighborhood alive. Anyhow, we didn't stay too long and ran into friends along the way.
Crossing over the Mississippi on 94W w/ a beautiful view of DT Mpls.
Photo stalking Rachel & Dylan as we enter the block party.
Kids trashing and jumping on this car.
Life size Operation.
Rach and I trying to hide from the sun.
We randomly run into our good friend Chris and his daughter Nixie.
Nixie getting her face painted.
Lots of striped shirts at the party - think this guy would dress like this in Paris?
I love this photo of dad & daughter.
Me being a spaz and Dylan putting up with it.
